Hello everyone. I was hoping somebody could have any information about my father who served in the highland devision in WW2 or if anyone could point me in right direction on where to look. His name was alexander gartshore and was born on 18/02/21. It would mean a lot to me as next year in 2021 would have been his 100th birthday. Thank you all ever so much .
I'm not too sure to be honest . I do have some details away in the lift of his but at the moment I'm on vacation in Italy until Thursday. When I get home I can let you know more information.
There is only one place and that is his official service records that are only available from the MOD: Get a copy of military service records Unfortunately, due to demand, you are unlikely to receive them by February next year, but I would advise you to join the queue. You do not need any military deatils to apply, but you will need a death certificate.
That's great news even if I dont recieve them by his birthday . I am very grateful that you have gone out of your way to find this out for me . I thank you very much my friend. I will let you know how I got on .
Hugh, if you haven't got one, these are the details you will need to obtain a certificate, as the dob matches I assume it to be the correct record but other details that you will be aware of should confirm. Name: Alexander Gartshore Death Age: 85 Birth Date: 18 Feb 1921 Registration Date: Apr 2006 Registration district: Leeds Inferred County: West Yorkshire Register Number: D32C District and Subdistrict: 092/1D Entry Number: 271
These details are indeed correct. Thank you very much . I shall look into it now . I'll let you know of the progress . Again, thank you my friend.
