I think you can see the collection with this link. https://www.librarything.com/catalog/Larry_Jewell/yourlibrary

Let me know if you have a problem.
The titles that have an * first are the ones I have now. The rest have been sayonara'd, to schools.

One title of interest, Jellicoe's book on Jutland, first edition, is in there. Don't know how rare it is but it's in very good shape.

Some additional "loot" from my trip to the UK. Rifleman (thank you 4jonboy!) and the 57th book were both gifts, so technically not bought...

Damn the torpedoes, tally-ho, charge!, remember Hong Kong!, desperate affairs require desperate measures, and so on, mate. And all of them with a stiff upper lip! :box:

P.S. And I thought Jungslager's "Forlorn Hope" was juuuust a tad expensive at 70 quid including over-the-pond S+H... :omg:

Does it cover the Dutch and British in the Far East and Reds in the inner seas?

I got some cool new stuff.
"The Invasion Before Normandy: The Secret Battle of Slapton Sands" - Edwin P. Hoyt
Osprey's "Central European Wars 1918-1921" - Philip Jowett Illustrated by Adam Hook

    Nothing on Soviet submarines.

But extensive coverage of the Far East British submarines, including the Dutch actions too.

Nice to have the core texts all in my possession, but this mini haul came in at over £200.

I've had my eye on the Eastern Fortress book. Worth the money?

I *assume* there's no mention of Archers or anti-tank artillery in the late 40s/early 50s?

That depends entirely on a) your point(s) of interest, and b) how cheaply you can get it!

I'd say it's a collection of essays more than a unified narrative history, and those essays differ in the 'height' from which they approach the subject.

The majority of the 347 pages cover the interwar and Second World War periods, and there's much granular detail on offer for the composition of forces, their geographic distribution, and their armament, but the earlier pre-1919 and later post-war sections focus more on strategy, politics and finances. That said, there are 50 pages of notes and references at the end and it all shows up along the way, so you'll be getting your money's worth in terms of research.

    Plenty of maps, too.

Not that I've seen, I'm afraid.

    I'm not surprised. It's a tiny footnote!

Well of course that would be my area of interest. I looked at a PDF sample online at the HKU website and that clinched it.

    Copy found and ordered.

The latest catches in my net from another university book sale.

I don't know much about the Wrens so thought that would expand my knowledge a little. It's already had me looking at Wren hats online to understand the difference in ratings' headgear.

No idea what the other book will be like, apparently a defence of (Canadian minister) Ralston and of Monty.

This looked to have a different and unusual angle for me and damned interesting, so into my shopping bag it went.
