Had first visit here for 20+ years yesterday.
I'm sure many of you have been there.
Museum building looking a bit dated (rather mid-1980s) and needs a revamp. They have an appeal going to do it up.
    Lots to see there.

didn't take many photos as they didn't come out too well. quite dark in there.
Kids loved it. Dad loved it.As we all happy Mrs d loved it too.
When it was time to leave we watched two Austers take off.

We go past it whenever we go west along the A30. But we're always in a hurry to get somewhere and I don't think Mrs Roberts would be too keen on suggestions that we stop off.

    Adrian,
    They've a nice little tea-shop.
    That might work.

I spent the afternoon at the museum last Sunday, well worth a visit. A few photos in no particular order.

The Museum is about to undergo a revamp under what they call Project Eagle which has already produced the British Army Flying Memorial in the museum grounds.
The first part of the museum that is being revamped is the archive to provide better storage conditions, and as a result the Museum is NO LONGER taking record search requests or accepting visiting researchers. The Museum itself will close to the public (apart from a number of special events around Armistice day in November) on the 29th October 2018 with a planned reopening at Easter 2019.
On reopening the visitor will have a better chronological time line to follow and the aircraft will be themed. Two aircraft are departing and two arriving, A third aircraft (an Apache) is now looking unlikely to arrive in time for this revamp.

This is the old Archive at the museum today. Most of its contents have been packed and moved to a store on the Army side of the wire. The bulk of the contents took a professional team two days to move. Today the builders move into the old offices to start work on their conversion to the new Archive which should be finished by Christmas.

    Just a quick update.
The Museum is now closed to the public whilst work is carried out. The contractors working on the new archive are working hard and are even a little ahead of schedule.
Staff and volunteers have also today completed the first aircraft move; the replica Cody man lifting kite and observer basket have been returned to ground level after hanging in the foyer for something like 35 years!
Anyone want some antique dust, we have lots of it.

Mmm. Dust from about when I think I last visited.
More power to all those involved, aeronut.
I can feel a hugely overdue visit coming on next summer.
