MP's in an offensive role

While reading about the Battle of the Chongchon, during the Korean War, I came upon an operation in which an MP outfit was used to attack and clear a roadblock which had been established by the CCF astride one of the MSR's for the 8th US Army. It got wiped out in the process.

Are there any recorded instances from WW2 of MP's deployed in offensive roles?

I know that sometimes engineers, cooks and bakers, clerks, etc., have been employed in last ditch stands to bolster a sagging line, but this was something else. Is (or was) MP training suited for offensive tasks?
