    Hello
I am researching my families war history, one of them served in Burma. I have attached two images, one of which shows his rank and says "wordman". Anyone know what that is?
His medal card also says "RE". Is that Royal Engineers?

Any info would be great! Thanks!

    Hi,

I think the queried word is his pre service civilian occupation “woodsman” ie working in forestry.

RE = Royal Engineers. It is noted as RE’s on his marriage certificate immediately before his army service number.

    Thanks for the help.
On the wounded list he has the number 679. Does that mean anything?

That was explained somewhere in this thread.
It's the number of the list published in the newspapers.
