I got these today from a 8th Battalion veteran, can anyone tell me what the little red "flag" is on the right?

To be honest I'm stumped on that, thought it would be some form of Battalion Indicator.
They were 43rd Div MG Bn, so maybe it indicates that?

I have written back to him, and asked about it, as indeed it is no where to be found, so when I find out I will post it

It is exactly like the official map-sign for a division/divisional headquarters but as yet I have no reference for how or why that might have been displayed on a uniform.

The red pennant is a small version of Brigade HQ flag and was worn by Brigade HQ personnel only, underneath de Division badge

    Got yer.
Was thinking along those lines but didn't want to post duff information.
Thanks for adding to my knowledge, Philip.
