Hi , my grand father died about 15 years ago and was in the 27th mechanical equipment platoon. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about what they did in ww2 and how i can find out more about my grand father as i was only 7 when he died and he didnt tell me much. My mother has discovered some of his paperwork. his details are:- army no. 2002/22 rank. l/cpl surname. Hodgson christian name. Robert 27 mech eqpt platoon date of enlistment. 16th feb 1940 any information would be great. thanks jack

I have just found some badges of his. Two that say royal engineers on theme,and another one that has a gin on it,with 3 coloured sections behind it (green ,blue,red) ,what does this mean?
