    Hi ,
my grand father died about 15 years ago and was in the 27th mechanical equipment platoon.

    his details are:-

    army no. 2002/22
    rank. l/cpl
    surname. Hodgson
    christian name. Robert
    27 mech eqpt platoon
date of enlistment. 16th feb 1940

any information would be great. thanks jack

    welcome to the forum
Your best plan of action is to search the National Archieves for the units war diaries and either go yourself and copy/review them or ask one of the members who provide this service at a modest cost.

I have just found some badges of his. Two that say royal engineers on theme, and another one that has a gin on it,with 3 coloured sections behind it (green ,blue, red) ,what does this mean?
