Here's another 1st Armd Div Dingo. Possibly not just capital ship names but Admirals? Photo from ebay of course.

    Best regards, Nick

    Hello Nick,

Thanks for that one. An interesting spelling. I have the name listed against a Churchill, RR armoured car and a Valentine but all spell the name RAMILLIES.

    Cheers

the car is recorded as being issued to the 5th Loyals.

Does anyone have information about the 5th being in the BEF, i only know they were in Singapore....but presumably without this car which had long since been left in France.

(LondonNick have you a link for the ebay auction...cant find it)

Thank you for confirming the regiment. Could anyone let me know what the AoS would likely to have been?

    Cheers

Andrew - I agree that this is GREENOCK - the only A12 ever photographed at this location, but I'm interested in what you mean by added in afterwards?
The photo appears completely genuine and I have never seen this particular shot of GREENOCK before. It was a well-known 'photo opportunity' at Dunkirk so I'd expect a lot of posed photos like this one - some of better quality than others.
    Best,

I was basing my comment on this picture seen on eBay some time ago. There are many points of correspondence between this and Keith's. I also thought the man's feet looked like they were not 'sitting' properly in the sand. I have now looked more closely however and the alignment of the tank with the background is not exactly the same, so it seems that I have jumped too readily to the wrong conclusion.

According to Bellis the 5th Loyals were not with the BEF, only the 1st Loyals with 1 Infantry Division.

This is the back of the photo, looks OK to me. This came from ebay this week, seller thought it was a russian tank.

A recent eBay sale which I know that a couple of us were looking at but which became quite expensive. Captioned as Ypern (Ypres)

A Scout Carrier showing the 2nd Infantry Division formation sign. Although displaying the 'PASS' plate, it is likely to be the Divisional cavalry of 2nd Div - 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards.

Any chance you can hint at the cost?

    What's it to you ? You've got books to buy ! :p

    79 euro, as it 'appens.;)

The trouble is that most of these are only about 8 x 5.5 (cm that is) and there isn't always a lot more detail than already visible on the scans.

Any chance you could tell me where 4/7 RDG abandoned carriers around Ypres ?

There is no diary for May, I've checked the Regt History too and thats a bit light on info.

I think the 4 on the left of the T9134 makes it a Queen's Bays tank?
