With more of a focus on the contemporary and later maps of Point 103 - and - where possible on the unit dispositions - when and where etc.

Also - pictures - although WW2 pictures of what actually was on Point 103 in June 1944 - and what it actually looked like then are - seemingly - not yet (really) referenced online.

    More to add in edit...

Re. Making a map of Point 103 - during sometime in June 1944...

    So... for instance

If the "footprint" of the prior planned 8th Armoured Brigade assembly map(s) are laid over the area of Point 103 - between Audrieu and St.Pierre/Tilly-Sur-Seulles - they "could" occupy this "area" - (seen attached map below) although then that raises the question of how things would have been orientated i.e. whether approximately North/South or East/West or any variation thereof.

    Point103-Unit-Footprint.jpg

Things were perhaps necessarily more compact - or - at any one time there was perhaps mainly only one or two tank Regiments there, and each Squadron placed with infantry - with them being swapped out - each every few days - as seems to occur in the war diaries.
There had to have been maps and notes made then though - of where things were - given that everyone had to be told where they were meant to be and where to find someone, even rough sketches etc.

This (below) overview map appears here -

Nb. It places the 12SS Recce Battalion at the spot where the grave of the 24L's Trooper John Simpson was later found -

    See - 7959728 Trooper John SIMPSON, 'A' Squadron, 24 Lancers: 08/06/1944

History doesn't - yet - seem to record how Trooper Simpson came to be there.
He was presumably buried there by somebody who came to be in the area, but whether it was the Germans or the soon to be arriving allies it is now very hard to ascertain.
The fact that he was relatively easily identified - as being there - perhaps suggests that some care was taken to keep things clear.

I have selected a somewhat different view here - it's the same area - between Audrieu and Tilly-Sur-Seulles - albeit looking south - and tilted at an angle -

    Google Earth

    Point103-looking-south.jpg

...from the allies point of view this perhaps gives a different representation of how things might have looked - so the more traditional N-S orientations might not necessarily be the best way to represent how things "were".

In Kevin Baverstocks's book "Breaking the Panzers" contemporary accounts - including war diary references etc. allow this map to be compiled for the Rauray battlefield.

It is perhaps useful too - in being representative of how things might have been organised on Point 103 - and might serve as some sort of general guide etc...

Nb. A Coy southwest and D Coy southwest - makes little sense.
    A Coy northwest - to me - . : - seems the most likely.

& re. "The Bn were to act as protection for whole of 8 Armoured Bde,"

The "whole of 8 Armoured Bde" would not all have been there - possibly only one or two of the armoured Regiments at any one time, with one or two further back, resting to the rear.

Though... another map also differs somewhat here...

....And using this other map seems to change things quite a bit - and doesn't really match the description in the 1st Dorsetshire War Diary - not least in that it "switches" - C Coy southeast, D Coy southwest to - C Coy southwest, D Coy southeast...

...and the companies aren't "boxed" around the HQ -
