    Sorry to dig out an old thread, but I was looking up Maj Gen Malden in connection with his time at the Staff College in 1924-25. Nick Smart's usually very reliable "Biographical Dictionary of British Generals of the Second World War" says he was killed in a car crash; other sources say "killed by a German bomb"...
