Hello to the forum. I am new to WWII research. I am searching for details of Major Daniel McBurney of the East Yorkshire Regiment He resided in Redcar Yorkshire and died 18th. October 1944 Buried and remembered with Honor in Delhi War Cemetery India. Survived by his wife Violet Ann McBurney. Any help or details on this soldier would be gratefully appreciated. It might save members time if you post any other information you have already gleaned about him. Members may be able to trace him on 1911 census or via Probate records after his death. Thanks for getting back to me. I made a mistake in my original post with his death date it should read 18th January 1944. I am doing this research on behalf of his elderly Daughter who barely remembers her Father. All she could tell me was her Father was born in Motherwell Lanarkshire Scotland and the family moved to Redcar Yorkshire. Not much I'm afraid. Rob B.

Hi London Gazette of 18 March 1941, says he was a Warrant Officer II in East Yorkshire Regiment and commissioned into the same regiment as a Lieutenant on 27th February 1941. Hope this helps Gus
