Macleod Forsyth MM, A&SH & 2nd Parachute Regiment

  1. Macleod Forsyth MM joined the A&SH in 1933 and transferred to the Paras in the autumn of 1941, winning the MM with the 2nd Battalion in North Africa. He was subsequently sent back to the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders and finished the war with them, fighting through the Italian campaign.

Macleod Forsyth was from Cowie in Stirlingshire and he may have returned there after the war. He appeared on the veteran scene in the 1980s and went on a couple of Bruneval Raid commemorations. He also have appeared, I believe, in an as yet untraced 1990s STV documentary featuring WW2 veterans. He died on 29th January 2008.

I am researching this man and would be interested in finding out more about his post-war life and whether there are surviving relatives. Pegasus published an obituary, but there does not appear to have been one published by the A&SH in The Thin Red Line, and I do not know of the existence of other obituaries, although I live in hope.

If anyone can add anything to this, please let me know.

There is a sort of family tree on Ancestry which shows he was married and had 1 daughter, who from her marriage had 2 children (one of each), the details are all noted as 'private' but with some research they could be found
