I have been looking at the POW casualties in Milan War Cemetery and after consulting the British Army Casualty Lists (findmypast) have found that 269389 Lt. H. A.Ransom was reported wounded and missing on 28 /12 /1943 in Italy, after which he was reported as a prisoner of war in German hands, still in Italy.

WO 417/8 shows him as having been ''Previously reported POW in German hands (Italy) now reported died''. Date 27/03/44. (See below)

He is buried in the above cemetery, and I have been told by C.W.G.C. that he was concentrated there from the German Military Cemetery at Gardone. Fine.

    BUT

WO 392/1, which registers prisoners of war held in Germany and German-occupied countries in September 1944, has an entry for 269389 Lt. H. A.Ransom, though no camp is given.
