    Hello

My late Dad, GNR John Morrison served in 325/111 (old no540//158) HAA regiment RA from 1942 and I am looking for any information anyone may have on the unit, all the info i have at the moment is his Soldiers release book and a downloaded casulty transfer list from France and a couple of newspaper cuttings with notification of wounded in action one is dated 4th August 1944.

My elder sister has mentioned an autograph book with some messages and is going to look for it as she thinks it may contain some names of others in the regiment, she also remembers making a comment about why he didn't keep it touch with anyone which she recalls got short shrift later our late Uncle (dads younger brother) mentioned to her that in the days after dad was injured the gun was destroyed in action?

I'm unsure where to start looking other than what I have done so far which is this forum and the royal artillery 1939 to 45 page.

    Thanks
    Regards
    Wray

Welcome aboard. Others here focus on D-Day and the Royal Artillery. Hopefully they will be along to help. PM sent with research tips.

Curiously no-one from the unit was killed on 4/8/1944 in France or elsewhere according to two searches on the CWGC website.

Thanks for the info and links David something to look into further.

these are the two documents I found recently.

What is confusing is the dates seem not to match just relooked at news paper cuttings and one mentions in hospital in Scotland and is dated 4th August

I will get the scanner in action and scan what I have and upload.

heading to Normandy on Wednesday for a week
