My Third British Infantry div Company.... 246 Field Co RE was preparing the Rhine crossings under the gaze of the enemy. How can I help with your research? I was back in England in hospital

It seems that the 3rd Division held the line in XXX Corps area as the other troops crossed. The 3rd Div RE was involved in support tasks, such as creating and maintaining roads to the crossings until they were called on to rejoin the division and cross the Rhine from 3-5 days after March 23rd. I have consulted a number of the infantry regimental histories of 3rd Division and they agree with this general plan.

I should have a chance later tonight to review all the regimental histories for the period. I will check on Haldern and any other actions.

Third British infantry were given the job of planning and carrying out all the preparations for the crossing. Cuttint entrabces and exits inthe River banks preparing them for the moment when the paths through would be blown.
