I am looking for a copy of Professor Lloyd Clark's book The Silent Battle: The British and the Ardennes Offensive, December 1944-January 1945. If you have a copy please do get in touch. many thanks brithm
I've done some looking into this book and it's a bit of a mystery. I can find no trace of a copy of this book on any book site. Supposedly released by Sutton in 2007, I'd expect to find at least one really expensive copy out there. No luck on finding a cover image anywhere either which is usually easy to do for books published by publishers like Sutton after 2000 and relatively well known authors like Clark. In fact I can find cover images for every other book he's written. So I'm leaning towards thinking this book never actually got into print except for one niggling fact. In his book Snow & Steel The Battle of the Bulge 1944-45, Peter Caddick-Adams lists the book in his bibliography ( Snow & Steel). Quite a head scratcher and sorry I couldn't help more
Lloyd Clark's website: Lloyd Clark, Military Historian Under "Books" there is no listing for The Silent Battle. Regards ...
ISBN for 'The Silent Battle' is ISBN13:9780750935555. Sutton Publishing's imprints were taken over by the History Press. I would suggest contacting them The History Press | Contact us. Tim
I took timuk's advice and contacted the History Press and they replied: "Dear Charles, Thank you for your email. I’m afraid it appears that this title has never been printed or distributed. Regards, The History Press Limited" Perhaps contact Lloyd Clark at his site above for information on the book's status. Regards ...
According to the University of Buckingham, Prof. Lloyd Clark is working on a new major book about the Battle of the Bulge. https://www.buckingham.ac.uk/research/hri/fellows/clark
Thank you all for your help, it is very much appreciated. I was hoping it was such a good book that nobody wanted to part with it. Makes sense though as British Library & IWM do not hold a copy. Thank again brithm
Does raise questions about the credibility of Caddick-Adams’ research if he cited a book that was never published in his bibliography
I emailed Professor Clark and he kindly replied that the "...book was never published...due to contract issues." Wonder what Caddick-Adams read?
