++ Lieutenant Ronald Frank Victor Strickland Royal Eng. Aged 36 yrs of Worthing Sussex. On the 17th July 1943, Ronald was O. i/c an Army convoy traveling near to Saundersfoot Pembrokeshire. Descending a hill, a lorry and trailer some 26 tons in total got out of control. The Driver and a passenger jumped clear of the cab. Lt Strickland who at various times walked alongside the convoy or rode the footplate was crushed and killed. As normal I have searched all variations I can think of on CWGC without success. I would like to establish his final resting place. He may be related to Cmdr Charles William Campbell Strickland of Grennwich, who stepped backwards on a level crossing into the path of an oncoming train and was killed. Again full CWGC and other info already known. Rgds Owen Ap Benfro
