I am trying to find out a bit about a Sgt in the Para's that did not return from Arnhem. Now after his his details on CWG it has A.A.C now I can only guess what this means at the moment. Now it has nothing to do with his name as it has his full name already there. It is some thing to do with what he did and I would just like to be able to tell the person what it is.

Just to add if you put Arnhem, in the title you will get plenty of attenion to your query that if as Owen says you can tell us who he is.

He was Sgt Austin Ronald Francis 6349511 of the Parachute Regiment he was killed either on 18/19 September 1944 at Arnhem. There is a bit of information about him on ParaData along with a picture. On the CWG site they have the letters A.A.C after his name. From what I can make out he started with the Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment.

I'm afraid that the page has suffered badly but this is all I could find. It would appear that Sgt Francis was last seen as 10 Para withdrew across the railway lines at Wolfheze.

His place of first burial is recorded as the "Oder de Bomen" General Cemetery in Renkum. He may have been wounded, taken POW and died of wounds.

The 10th was originally formed from the Royal Sussex but there were many people who volunteered for Parachute duties and were posted in from other units.
