My father L/Cpl Bernard Birch born 1919 was wounded in Boulogne on 24th May 1940 (his 21st Birthday) and hospitalised as a result. I have his diaries but I cannot read many of the place names, he was in Doullens from May 18th to 20th 1940. The name of the first camp on arrival on April 20th to May 6th was Le Manoir, I think. I am looking for further info. Upon return to the U.K he transferred to the 9th Regiment of the Somerset Light Infantry where he remained till demob.
Hi Christopher-I've taken the liberty of starting a new thread for you and I've added the link to Nash's diary below: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/1940/34224-6th-battalion-queens-own-royal-west-kent-regiment-1940-a.html
