I am researching Lance Sergeant James Robert George Lucas, he is commemorated on a war memorial at Hindle House Arcola Street Hackney. The information I have on James so far is: Service No. 6914227 Rank Lance Sergeant DOD 16/05/1944 Age 26 Service / Reg. Rifle brigade 10th (2nd Bn. The Tower Hamlets Rifles)Bn. Cemetery Cassino War Cemetery Grave Ref. II. J. 9. Son of Robert & Amanda Harriet Lucas, Husband of Gladys May Lucas of Walthamstow. I would like to know as much about James as possible including whether he died at the 4th Battle of Monte Cassino? I'd also like to make contact with his relatives.

 

10th Rifle Brigade were the motor battalion for 26th Armoured Brigade in 6th Armoured Division.
Yes, they were involved in the fighting in the Liri Valley.
