    Hi everyone,
I am researching a Royal Engineer Sapper, who on his Roll of Honour is described as Lance Corporal of Horse, but accorrding to this website, it is an appointment unique to the Household Cavalry.

    Lance-corporal of horse - Wikipedia
Lance corporal of horse (LCoH) is an appointment unique to the Household Cavalry of the British Army, equivalent to lance sergeant in the Foot Guards. It was introduced in 1971. On promotion to corporal, an NCO is automatically appointed lance-corporal of horse, so that the rank structure effectively goes straight from Lance Corporal to lance corporal of horse, and then to Corporal of Horse. However, lance corporals of horse are still addressed as "Corporal"

Thank you Kyle, it is a strange one, but it was on Find my Past and Ancestry. I noticed on the Medal Card, his initials are wrong, they have A. M.
I thought that there may have been an exception, others able to use the title.

Thanks again, Kyle, you are always there!

    Mavis,

Sapper Bond appears in another thread (August 2024) and Kyle in Post 5 lists him. Gus in Post 14 states based on a RE source that:
See: Killed in Action D-Day, buried in Dover?

OMG, I should have remembered, although bells were ringing obviously not loud enough!!! Being buried in the UK was the bell!

Thank you so much for reminding me, although I will say I have researched a few more men since then! That's my excuse, if one was needed!

If I live long enough, I will be researching some of those men on Kyle's Post who died on the 6th of June, I am mostly going in alphabetical order and I am on th 'B's' now.

So thanks for you help davidbfpo for reminding me and also for the everyone on this wonderful forum.

I always note when I get help from you all.

    Regards, Mavis
