Dear all, I research pictures or informations about the elements of the 6th Airborne who has landed at Juno on D-Day : 3 Airldg A Tk Bty, 249 Fd Coy RE, 6 Airborne Div Sigs, 195 Airldg Fd Amb, 9 Airldg LASD, 716 Lt Comp Coy RASC... I talk to the experts of Juno Beach, that's why I post this question here and not on the Airborne forum. Cordially, Xavier
Hey, No answer. I have a doubt about the officer at the center of this picture : D-DAY - BRITISH FORCES DURING THE INVASION OF NORMANDY 6 JUNE 1944 I am not an expert, but his helmet looks like paratroopers, right ? I am not sure, very not... Cordially, Xavier
Hi, Looks like he is from the 13/18th Hussars. He has the regimental flash painted on to the side of the helmet. There is a better view of the flash in this photo, IWM B 5188, THE BRITISH ARMY IN THE NORMANDY CAMPAIGN 1944 (B 5188) Regards Danny
Thank you Danny. Canuck, the 12th Devonshire (6th airborne unit) landed at Sword. I just take my chance...
The photo is one of a series showing the Royal Ulster Rifles moving along the lateral road to their assembly area. There are Sherman tanks ahead. Presumably the officer in question is a liaison officer from the 13/18 Hussars. Mike
The guy im researching came ashore from the RASC attached to the 6th Airborne at Juno Beach under heavy mortar fire
