A couple of memorials to keep an eye out for here in Jersey :- Great Escape memorial in the Parish of Trinity and 263 Sqn memorial at Noirmont point.

Scheidhauer pow Rhubarb to Ouistreham pm. Shot down by flak. Shot by Gestapo after the Great Escape, March 1944 7 December 1942 263 Squadron Whirlwind I P7105 S/L. R S. Woodward DFC + CWGC :: Casualty Details Roadstead SW of Jersey pm. Shot down by flak and seen to ditch. Whirlwind I P6987 W/O. D B. MacPhail RCAF + Cannot find CWGC entry for the above Roadstead pm. Shot down by flak ship. FCL Vol.2 - Franks Rhubarb - The purpose of a "Rhubarb" was to hit the enemy on the ground where it would inconvenience him the most. Hurricanes and Spitfires in pairs or larger formations struck into Nazi-occupied France and Belgium attacking railroads, munitions factories, airfields, electric lines and gun posts. Roadstead - Low level attack on coastal shipping.
WO McPhail (not MacPhail) is listing on the CWGC website CWGC - Casualty Details and is commemorated on the Runneymede memorial as he has no known grave.
