Does anyone know of RE involvement in the demolition of defence infrastructure and equipment following Britain's decision to abandon defence of the Channel Islands on 20 June 1940? I understand the RE did not have a permanent presence in Jersey but that some RE personel were reported to have been involved?

    Philip,

You need our Channel Island member's help, try a PM to Nick Le Huray. He was last logged in on 25/12/2025.

See several posts 10 onwards on yachts etc from Jersey removing demolition parties from St. Malo: Dunkirk Evacuation Mystery - Royal Tank Corps

Possibly useful as threads refers to Jersey and demolition parties in other French ports: The sinking of R.M.S. Lancastria, St. Nazaire 17th June

An online search with: "demolition" + "jersey" + "royal engineers" id'd a lot of threads and Google AI cites some sources too.
