Loved my time in Italy touring the Gothic Line. As well, the stay in Florence was excellent. The food was amazing. Welcome to the Forum.

    Thank you
The Gothic Line is beautiful but all of Tuscany is beautiful. There are many unknown places where you can eat very well.

    Ciao Marco

I have been to Empoli. It was some years ago (the late 80s), when I was visiting a friend and fellow student at my university who was teaching for a year at a high school in Certaldo. It’s a very beautiful area - friendly and welcoming and within reach of Siena and Firenze but without so many tourists.

Over the years I have travelled quite extensively in Tuscany, both in the cities to soak up the culture and enjoy the food - and the simpler pleasure of hiking in the hills, where there are a lot of memorials to the Resistance in the latter stages of WW2.

I have also recently joined this forum.

    Best wishes

    James
