Very interesting article in the latest Arnhem newsletter as the following relates. The evidence presented that the information board in the woods near Wolfheze is at the wrong location is pretty good in my opinion. The case that it was the 4th Engineers seems strong. What do others think? In any case another excellent newsletter and some other interesting articles in it. Well done to the editor and those who contributed!. As one of those that contributed to the erection of this information board, which was supposed to mark the location of HQ 4th Parachute Brigade, I'm a bit miffed that proper research was not undertaken by those responsible. After all the map references and description of the locations (viz "track junction") are clearly stated in the war diaries and only needed to be plotted onto a map. I will not be contributing to its replacement or relocation.
Thanks, Horsa, I think it is a pity that proper research was not carried out. Will someone do you think change the board?
I agree with Horsa the evidence is clear that the board is wrong and so should either be reworded or moved. Sorry for the delay in replying but I have been in Normandy for a few days........
