Hello I am very interested in the history of world war 2, I even collect souvenirs of it. This week-end I've found a British helmet with an service number of it: N° 5.048.318. I'm 99% sure it's a BEF helmet This soldier served in the royal artillery: North Staffordshire regiment. I've read some interesting stories of this regiment on this site. This helmet is found near Ypres. I would like to know if it's possible to identificate this number (name of soldier, service records, etc) It's by chance that I've found this helmet when there are now the 75th commemorations of Dunkirk evacuation thanks a lot, Benoit
The Staffordshire Regimental Museum will be able to match your service number to a name. Where did you find the RA reference? http://staffordshireregimentmuseum.com/research.html Guy
I saw an early helmet with the same decal on the site of Delcampe.net Is this decal related to the RA or to the north staffordshire regiment? (it is black, rhombic, with a vertical red line in the middle) Thanks for the help
