Here's the thread I was thinking of but that pic isn't there, I must have posted it somewhere else, I definately posted it. I think it's safe to say both were taken with the same camera though http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/1940/32292-force-k6-indian-troops-france-1940-a.html
Hi to all - What is interesting about the Indians is that several of them went on to serve in Infantry Regiment 950 - The German Indian Legion... Roddy
I have put the photo back on as there is more info on back of this photo, my German is not good. The German with the bike has a cap badge, could it be a Alpine unit?. Original photos from my collection It reads: "?? ?? englischen Gefangenen in Maastrich am 12.5.1940". Translated it means: ?? ?? English prisoners in Maastricht 12.5.1940. Maastricht is a city in the Netherlands, close to the Belgian border. I wonder what unit these BEF soldiers belonged to. Dirk
I know this isn't France, Belgium or Holland but it did happen in 1940 and I don't think there is a thread for Norway. Two photographs taken by the Germans- the first is Lt Col Ford surrendering what is left of the 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters at Tretten, Norway. This happened on 23 April 1940 after the TA Battalion had been in action against the Armoured/Mountain Division Pelengahr for five days and ran out of ammunition. They made their last stand at Tretten gorge to try to stop ski troops turning their flank. They had not eaten during the whole time in contact. The second is him being led into captivity, note his Service revolver around the neck of the German soldier on the right. Steve

Lots of interesting photos coming up on ebay D so thought I would post a few and it may answer a few questions on what kit they had and weather etc . Heres the first few, sadly with no units or locations. Craig
Thanks for posting Craig. There's a POW 1940 thread started by Di a while ago but I can't move them to it.
Seem to have some interest so here's a few more , the last pic could be Pioneers and the two tall chaps with shovels in centre must surely be brothers- Craig
BEF captured prisoner of war photo captioned Ypres, fairly sure they are walking past the Cloth Hall which is being rebuilt after WW1 destruction , could this be some of 150th brigade 50th division who defended Ypres until early hours of the 29th May ? or could it be anyone in the Bef who is just passing through . Some of the soldiers have cards pinned to the uniforms - casualties maybe ? Craig
One photo that came in the post today, you can see 2 french hats, one on the front grill of the Luftwaffe truck WL reg [ Opel ] and one on the wing mirror above the xxx all so part of a name AGENC?. British troops in the back with two Luftwaffe troops keeping an eye on them. Keith
'Englands elite truppen siegreicher rückzug aus Calais in die gefangener schaft' - yep, very sarcastic caption, you see that sort of thing on the back of quite a few photos - often with a racist slant on the back of photos of colonial troops - 'Kulturkampfer' (culture fighter) or Hilfsvölker (international aid).
Nice clear large picture of a Scottish soldier in kilt at St.Valery or thereabouts by the look of high chalk cliffs. Craig
