Identification of a German uniform

Hello everyone,

I wonder if anyone can help me identify this man's German uniform. From my research, I'd say he was a police officer rather than a soldier.

Here are three photos in which you can make out a few details, in the hope that this will be enough to obtain some information.

Few thoughts regarding the photos.

Are these the same person?

Centre photo subject is holding a pistol wearing a light coloured jacket (Luftwaffe?)

No subjects are wearing a Nazi Armband

Could he be in the Navy or Airforce

Comparison photo attached German Gendarme (police) taken in 1937.

 

These three photographs have had quite a bit of `web` coverage. Some answers from 2018- 2022 from other forums there seems to be a suggestion that he is an official of the Justizwachtmeisterdienst, i.e. a court security officer ?

I think it was based on those collar patches . Just posting here to stop any of the good people on here going over old/covered ground .

I'm pretty sure the first two are some form of police, but the Germans had many types and different uniforms for each.

This looks like an Allgemeine-SS uniform.

Kyle, you’re right—I’ve been digging into this for a while now. While the forum threads haven’t yet given me a clear answer, I’ll keep trying here and also follow up on the forum Gary suggested if needed.

Yes, it’s the same person in all three photos. I agree that the collar badges do seem to match those of the Justizwachtmeisterdienst/Justizbeamte (as seen here: Reichs Police Collar Tab & Shoulder Board Identification Gallery). That said, some other elements of the uniform don’t quite align with that function.

Interestingly, I recently came across this photo that seems to show (even more?) similar collars. It’s listed as “Police officer formation by a military officer in the 30s.” I'm wondering whether it might not be a policeman instead. If so, it may be photos from the interwar period?
