Whist recovering from wounds received at El Aghelia with 5 RHA my father was sent to Syria for convalescent.
Father extreme right (as you look at it ) of picture with water tower
From pics it would appear that they wore suits and not uniform
Was this to make them all equal patients as they then has no rank?
I seem to remember during my own service soldiers on sick leave wearing Uniform with a white shirt and red tie.
I have a few pics of around the hospital is there an area for medical pictures

From the WW2 Tommy in Colour, hospital blues with white shirt and red tie were the norm in WW1 & 2

For the army, those on sick leave wore white shirts and a red tie as said and this was the norm in the early 1950s.

I remember meeting up with a schoolboy friend who was in the army and was wearing the attire when on sick leave.
