Home Front identity discs.

I have recently acquired two un-numbered identity discs which are not military as they do not have army numbers stamped upon them.

I am wondering if they might be from a civilian service. I know that the N.F.S. issued identity discs as I have one in my collection, which gives the wearer's name (Bamford), service number, (855457), unit (N.F.S.) and district (20).

Does anyone know if the Home Guard, the Police Force or any other Home Front service issue identity discs? Were the Home Guard issued service numbers?

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

I have a Home Guard disc - it is identical to the NFS type above.
I believe they were not worn around the neck but attached to the tube of their respirator.
The first ones are of the First World War type.

Thank you for your thoughts. Whilst I would agree that they appear to be of the Great War type, of which I have a few in my collection, I have not seen any issued to soldiers without their regimental number and regiment on them. Is it likely that a new recruit could be given an identity disc before being allocated a regimental number?

I am not sure if Chaplains serving overseas were given service numbers, but if they were not, I would expect to see some indication of their role on the identity disk. I cannot think of any other group of people serving in a war zone that would not have had a service number.
