    This is rather good:
    Translated - Warheroes.ru
    Original - Ãåðîè ñòðàíû
Appears to be a searchable list of Heroes of the Soviet union, with pretty substantial biographies on each one.
Don't know about it's completeness but all I've so far thought of (not that many) have an entry.

    Cheers,
    Adam.

I wonder what the bear says on the little game on the right of the screen, hope deadb_tch can explain. :)

As for translation, I don't think this one worked out quite right.

Another question for Alex, were there any Heroes Of Soviet Union awards given out for the war in Afghanistan in the 1980s?
    EDIT: Found them.

Finally I've got here, so let's go!
First of all there are 85 Heroes of Afghanistan war (conflict call it what u want), here is the list: Ñïèñîê ãåðîåâ Ñîâåòñêîãî Ñîþçà. 28 of them got title postmortem. Also there are 22 Heroes of war in Korea, 1 of them postmortem. Interesting facts, I think, especially if compare to Heroes that were given for aircraft test flights - 122, and 9 of 'em postmortem (and 1 double Hero).
Then bear says "Frontline.ru" (actually peredovaya.ru) that is russian mulituser online game, so that's just an ad ;).

    Another questions? ;)

    Brezhnev's WW2 service is interesting:
    Brezhnev.
Even though he has one more award than Zhukov I can't help feeling the latter's three wartime awards and one postwar somewhat outweigh Brezhnev's postwar five.

Oh I would think so. How many has Kruschev???

Just the one Hero of the Soviet Union (the slacker) but three 'Heroes of Soviet labour', a pretty much equal award (?).
    Khruschev
Wonder if any of these were part of the awards he notoriously gave to himself, that led to grumblings of further 'Non-Leninist' behaviour.

    Brezhnev? http://translate.google.com/translate?sourceid=navclient&hl=en&u=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2ewarheroes%2eru%2f

The old SOB was awarding himself HSUs for his birthdays, and see the penultimate paragraph: he also awarded himself nothing less than the Order of Victory! Why???

However later on Boris Yeltsin took care of that and revoked these self-awards in 1989. See the last entry here http://marshals.narod.ru/STAR/pobedaen.html

    Also,
Brezhnev's four awards further eroded the prestige of the award because they were birthday gifts, on the occasions of his 60th, 70th, 72nd and 75th birthdays.

Here is a very 'favourable' view of him :D
    http://www.ukraine-observer.com/articles/230/1022

awarded the highest Soviet military order "Victory", but the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR his decree of 21 Sept, 1989 repealed Ordinance 1978, to award the Brezhnev LI орденом "Победа", как противоречащий статуту этого ордена.
Order "victory" as contrary to the statute of the Order.

Just been flicking through ATB issue 139 , reading on the Carpatho-Dukla operation and the Czechoslovak Army Corps again.

It says that the first foreigner to gain the title Hero Of The Soviet Union was Captain Otakar Jaroš in 1943.
Here's a wikipedia entry on him.

Doing abit of Googling on him found this SU-85 named after him.
