    Hi,
The post card attached was amongest my father's army photograph album. I do not know what the significance of the card is although he has added a small "c & arrow" at the top. The full text, "Vue aerienne des USINES PERSIL a Herent-lez-Louvain" There is no message, so not posted home?
He was a Sgt. with 301/127 H Fd Rgt. RA, could it be a gun position? I am not sure which of 4 guns he was but believe not 'A' so B, C or D, perhaps the 'C' in the photograph. All gues work I'm afraid.

I thought you said he was in 2 Med Regt then?
What does war diary say regarding gun postions ?

Just found this photo of what it looked like in 2005 in Herent
Although on GoogleEarth looks like the chimney has gone.

Hi, He enlisted RA at Durham 11/01/33 to 6/2 Training etc.

I believe this post card dates to NWEurope but no actual date. War diaries do not show gun positions as yet. 'C' Troop sounds good to me for the momment unless other info comes to light.
Thanks Drew5233 the diaries are a great help, I'm just a little slow with the RA/Army speak / translation.

ah right I was assuming 1940.
He could have been there in 1944 too I suppose, didnt think of that.
Check war diares for both units to see when they were there is all I can suggest.

    Hi Owen,
Will do that making heavey weather of it at the moment but I am supposed to be putting Dad's war together for the family as to my surprise, perhaps not, few were aware he was at war with one or two others I believe. Currently in the BEF so quite away to go yet!
    Thanks Neil
