A very suspicious moniker, but Bodziu isn't me. And 'thanks' for raising that monster from the deep again. I fear the nightmares will begin again.

Have a look at a French design, the Batignolles-Chatillon DP3 amphibious tank. It has some features in common with their DP2 amphibious tank design. The vehicle on the left being a Guy Quad Ant, suggests <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1>France</st1></st1:country-region> 1940. The German word Floss… assuming it is Floss and not Sloss, means ‘floats’. According to a French website the DP3 prototype was finished at <st1><st1:city w:st="on">Nantes</st1:city></st1> in May 1940 but was thrown in the river as the Germans approached. The Germans may have salvaged it.<o></o>

    Otherwise no idea !

Good man Ev, Bovington were asked a while back and drew a blank -
Once again I feel the lack of a decent general English language encyclopedia of French tanks...

    Adam,

There doesn't appear to be any info/pictures on the DP3 that I can find after much searching.
A very near shape is the ASL V39, minus the front gun, but it is obviously not what we are looking for.
Picture attached as it is worth looking at.

I go along with the letters Floss meaning water, but the other letters are unclear.
It looks like some nickname given by the Germans who recovered her.

The only thing I found was your pet one man Holt Tank complete with Tankie! Not sure if you already have it but post it for others.

    Regards
    Tom

    Very not good.

With site visitors having nearly doubled again over the year, time to drag this dreary old beast out from the vaults again to give myself & Bod further bad dreams.

Any new chaps have any new suggestion?

Odd question... what is the wheeled vehicle in the back?

I know its crazy but I think a Buffalo-esque vehicle? But yeah, ID of the wheeled vehicle may spark my brain.

    Maybe...

I am tempted by the suggestion that it may be an early/Poland Russian/German meet up picture?

It is a British Guy Quad Ant.. like this beute one. Is it me, or do one or two of these fellas look familiar?

    It is not just you.
At least two are definitely the same blokes. Nice one.

Can't make out any unit insignia on the Quad. Maybe something right of the blokes sat on it, but as likely a photographic smudge.

So it is in German hands. Two or three of the men are the same, is that a cantilever toolbox laying on its side on the bench in front of the Quad.
From the Chars Francais site Google Translate it appears that in 1939 there was a French requirement for an armoured bridging ferry. I think that this could be a prototype one of those. Maybe from FCM or AMX. It looks as though it could sit in a trench and have tanks drive over it. I am almost certain it is French. I wonder if anyone has contacted Saumur about it?

Due to context, I'd say the Pimpernelle Vert Armée :D

Just wondered if the chaps in the picture where NSKK?

I guess the Wehrmacht number plate on the truck precludes that theory.

At the risk of repeating myself. I reckon it is one of the prototype 1939 FCM M1

    from Chars Francais
    FCM 1939 M1
    AUTOMOTIVE GEAR CROSSING

From a vehicle crossing program in 1938, this draft FCM is presented in 1939.

With a weight of 25.5 tonnes, the FCM M1 consists of a set of two gears positioned side by side and to allow the crossing of streams less than 10m wide. The shield is from 7 to 15mm.

Limited to the crossing by light tanks, the M1 FCM given its price, its size and complex to handle, does not meet expectations. End of 1939, the order of 2 prototypes is canceled in favor of FCM F1.
