173rd Field Ambulance was one of the divisional units of the British 70th Infantry Division. It appears to have been broken up with the rest of the Division as part of the build up of the Chindits for operations in 1944. Steve

A quick search at Kew suggests there may be 5 or 6 diaries for 7 CCS although it's not clear if all are relevant and the date of interest in August 44 doesn't seem to be covered in those I would consider worth investigating
