    Hi everyone,

Hope you're all doing well. I have a photograph from ww2 that I need some help with. I know the chaps name and he apparently died in WW2 but there are about 25 soldiers with the same name so am trying to limit the field. To this end I am hoping information on his uniform and pocket badge may help. I think the 2 stripes mean he was enlisted but beyond that I am somewhat clueless. I also am curious if his cap is missing the eagle or was that normal?

    Kindest regards
    DG

Thanks Owen. Hopefully that will show on a service record (if it survives). Another post mentioned Wehrmacht service cards but all I can find on ancestry is cards relating to deaths. Do you know what I need to search under? Ta

    Hi David,

are you sure his name is Korner? Körner is much a more common German name. The "Umlaut" makes all the difference - it can also be spelled "Koerner".
