    Hello everyone,

for my first Post I just want to introduce my mission. I want to try to figure out what happened between 1945 – 1950 in Munster, Lower Saxony, Germany. During World War II and up to 1952 a Pond near by Munster was used for chemical warfare agent disposal. First it was used from the German Troups up to 1945, after that the british army used it till 1950 and at last the german bomb disposal crews up to 1952 when it got filled up with soil and rubble. There are just a few hints for the content of the Pond and I want to find more detailed Informations. For this I´ll open more Threads with specific topics in hope to get some detailed Informations about the activities of the british army in the region around Munster to prepare my visit in the national archives.

    Kind regards!

    Information here
They should have an idea on what they were removing.
Armoured excavator deployed for remediation works at World War II army munitions site
The adapted 225 LC tracked excavator was built by German construction equipment manufacturer Atlas, to carry out the removal of around six tonnes of old army minutions from what is known as the Dethlinger Pond near Munster in Germany.

The Dethlinger Pond, where from 1942 to 1952 the “German Armed Forces and later the British Army disposed of a huge number of grenades and chemical warefar agents, was essentially a pit in the ground that, when it was open during the 10-year period, measured 63 m wide and roughly 12 m deep.

“The pit was backfilled with soil and rubble in 1952,” said Atlas, adding that the past 70 years had seen the site suffer both rotting and groundwater contamination.

Thanks, I did not find this quote at my research, but I read the German ones.
For the Moment theire where disposed:
    - 100000 x ignation charge Typ C/98
    - 3000 x ordnance grenades 7,5 - 15 cm
    - 200 - 300 x Phosgenbombs with 100 kg filling (defused and emtied in the pond)
    - 300 x barrels with 250 l fluid Phosgen
    - 100 x barrels with 100 l Yperite / Lost
Up to 2020 they did a test exvacation and corrected the amount of ordnane charges up to 30000.
On this Basis I will try to find some more Informations, for this I want to figure out the Activities of the britis army around Munster.
So for example I am interested in the whereabout of the Tabun-bombs, what did they found in the Tabun/ Sarin Fabrik in Raubkammer etc.
