    born Oct 1914 in Patrington

    father Albert, mother Annie

can anybody provide any further information please as to
    1) what the regiment was doing?
    2) war diary for the regiment
    3) anything else that I may add to a folder for the parish council?

also any further fallen from both wars or conflicts

    thank you in anticipation

    Hi CL1 just Halsham please
Tony 56 thank you for the casualty list and BNA. Know we many never know but wonder what the accident was and if it was in the Regimental diary.

looked 16HAA, RA on google but can’t find anything. Wonder if 16 may have been the battery??.

Having a bit more of dig around today and it looks like that Pte. Frederick Grindell could be the only one that was actually born in Halsham the others possibly born in the district of.

Deacs thanks for the above and normally shows district of Patrington Which is the place in the district that births and deaths were registered. Having looked at the ones you provided yesterday all looked to be born in Halsham and moved around in the local area as they grew up.
    Thanks again for looking

No worries, it's a nightmare sometimes searching as the records say born in someplace but they were born in the district of that place. Well good luck with your research and keep us informed cheers.

Further to Deacs offerings above, a Hull memorial site gives a little more information on three of the WW1 men, if not seen already:
Whatling, Fred | Kingston upon Hull War Memorial 1914 - 1918
Barrett, Frederick | Kingston upon Hull War Memorial 1914 - 1918
Fewson, Walter James | Kingston upon Hull War Memorial 1914 - 1918
albeit without adding more detail to a Halsham association.

Halsham being the site of the Chichester-Constable mausoleum and members of that family being mentioned in other threads eg Wormhout 1940, I had a quick look on that line, but don’t think there’s anything of direct pertinence for the Subject quest.

There was a Wellington crash landing near the village (R3203 / 99 Sqn) on 20 Nov 40, but all crew fortunately survived on that occasion. Is Jerusalem Farm still on the go?
    Aircraft accidents in Yorkshire.

Good luck again with your search.

Quarterfinal thanks for the above, we have many aircraft crashes in this area and bombing as on the east coast. The great thing is we can go to the archives at Beverley and look at all the old telegrams sent from police, fire, ARP, ,military etc with loads of info on them and 1000s of pages including map ref Nos. went looking for a downed German plane a couple of month ago after finding info in the archives and with permission of farmer detected and found lots of wreckage including pipes, twisted metal and aluminium. Still pick up the odd small shell casing dropped from them now and again.
