Scroll down to 'Desert Conditions' here: The struggle for North Africa, 1940-43 | National Army Museum And to "Life in the desert" here: Background Also probably a good idea to move this to the North Africa section. All the best Andreas
No worries. You can ask the mods, I don't think us mere mortals can do it. I am also looking if I have some memoirs around for this. Chapter III of this should also be of interest: Dropbox - toppe.pdf - Simplify your life Finally, the Wellcome Collection has quite a bit on medical reports from the desert war. For example, p.21 of this one talks about the conditions a bit: "A time in the sand: a true account of some personal experiences with the RAMC in the Western Desert 1941-1943", by James David Provins Graham, Captain, RAMC All the best Andreas
Thanks Andreas, this is excellent information. Let me know if you find any memoirs. great stuff thanks again Paul
Not a memoir, but this should have some good info on day-to-day life of the soldiers, rations, water supply and diseases. The Health of The Middle East Force, 1942–1943 Thanks to Papiermaché All the best Andreas
Hi Andreas thanks for the information really appreciate it. See link below to an account I found which has a good description of conditions. Events in North Africa – June 1942 | SWWEC I'm in the middle of reading "Crisis in the Desert" which has a lot of detail about the capture of Tobruk. I was trying to buy a copy but always too expensive as its an old book, but managed to get a copy from the library. It has some info on 287th Field Battery which my Dad was part of an explains events of the 20th of June when he was captured. Thanks again Paul
I have no idea whether this will be of assistance to anybody, but although the size is small (and I have no better copy), this could be of interest.
