Hi, I'm trying to trace information of my step grandfather, I believe he was in the training battalion, Victoria barracks in 1941, but served in Italy and Africa with 3rd battalion later in war, left after war as a Sgt. Many thanks

    Family Research
Increasing numbers of people are undertaking major research to find out more about their relations who have served in The Guards regiments. Many of these people ring the museum to ask us to search the archives for details about these former soldiers. Unfortunately, we do not hold any service records on individuals. The following Foot Guards regiments no long hold any records; Grenadier, Irish and Welsh Guards. For the soldiers records for these regiments please go to the following link https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/

Only the following two Foot Guards regiment still hold their records

    Coldstream Guards 020 7414 3081
    Scots Guards 020 7414 3419

    Andrew.

3 GREN GDS were in Cassino for the build up to and then the Fourth Battle - Apr-May 44. They had the grim task of holding Cassino town itself.

    Regards

Thankyou Frank, yes I have a rough idea of the actions he was potentially involved in, as he has an Italy star, he may also been at Dunkirk BEF, Africa and Palestine, But never spoke about it except to say he saw his close mates lose their lives..

    Hi Owen,

OP should be able to have sight of the Regimental History via below link. Unfortunately it’s view only rather then downloadable (unlike CG Regt History:)).
