I have a colleague in Canada who knows that I go on W W I Battlefield/Cemetery tours and has asked me if I can get him a photograph of his uncle's grave. As the itineraries of my trips do not cover W W 2 I have found it difficult in obtaining a photograph for him. If anybody is going to the Rouen area on a battlefield research tour and visiting the Bernay Communal Cemetery I would be most grateful if you would obtain a photograph of the grave for which I will reimburse your costs. The Grave is for FLYING OFFICER, JOHN EDGAR WRIGHT, ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE, SERVICE NUMBER J/26422 - Grave location - Row 1, Grave 9. Will forward details of cemetery location if required and if you can assist. Regards, Tonym
Tony, This may be "preaching to the converted" but has your colleague tried the Maple Leaf Legacy Project in Canada. This organisation is in the process of photographing all Canada's WW2 war graves headstones and the Project Director lives in northern Europe. The website is www.mapleleaflegacy.ca Colin.
Colin Thanks for the info. I was unaware of the Maple Leaf Legacy site so that's something that I have learnt. He was unaware of the CWGC website until I explained it to him. I will pass the information on to him. Thanks again. Tony
