Hello, This might be a long shot but I'll try it any way.... A friend of mine is researching the crash of a WACO glider during Market-Garden in Mariekerke near Bornem, about 20 miles southwest of Antwerp. The complete crew (several 101st Airborne Signals Co soldiers and one Royal Corps of Signals soldier) died in the crash. The British soldier was Frederick Sellers. Now, we know from several eyewitness accounts that a few British soldiers were first on the crash site, because they were playing football nearby. Problem is; we dont know the unit! It would be nice to see if the unit mentioned the crash in its war diary and to see what the British eye witnesses had to tell about the crash. As the area was already liberated beginning of september by units of the 11th Armoured Division, we are more or less thinking about support units of 2nd Army or a Corps, as the area was well behind the frontlines then. We know that a unit of the RAOC stayed in the area in december. Any suggestions of anybody that might already have stumbled on the information about the crash? Thank you in advance!
