Welcome to the forum, I would suggest to put the name of the song you want into a search engine and go from there. Cheers Paul
welcome Wilhelm 'patriotic' as opposed to 'nazi'? Do you have any clues as to titles etc, I mean there are a fair number about on the net but it depends what sort of thing you'd want Panzerlied - lyrics and download Panzerlied mp3 I used to have that as my ring tone...Compared to British 'patriotic' songs the Germans won everytime. I've always like 'Over there' too by the sceptics albeit WW1. 'I'm gonna hang out the washing on the .....' would hardly inspire me to go and get shot at. From 3 minutes 15 seconds WW2 Songs would make a great thread Welcome to the forum Wilhelm.

Thanks for all the replies! I don't really mean military/marching songs... just songs from 'civilian life' during that time in Germany that are in German. Does that make sense? I don't know any titles, unfortunately. Maybe songs that may be heard in WWII documentaries or movies from that era of the "good" times there. I assume there is a collection of these somewhere... a free collection, I'm hoping.
Ahh.....You mean a German equvailent of this sort of thing? Quite good vid too for Spit fans
.....I'm new here, and I was wondering if anyone knows of any collections of some patriotic songs from Germany in mp3 format? Wilhelm - the only two German songs I know of from that period were " Lili Marlene" and Sagbeim abscheid liese servus" the "Horst Vessal" was a true nazi song - along with "Wir gehen nach England " ! Cheers
Not sure if this is what you mean. A wonderful song popular on both sides. LILI MARLEN By Norbert Schultz Underneath the lantern, by the barrack gate, Darling I remember the way you used to wait. 'Twas there that you whispered tenderly, That you loved me, You'd always be, My Lili of the lamplight, My own Lili Marlene. Time would come for roll call, Time for us to part, Darling I'd caress you and press you to my heart, And there 'neath that far off lantern light, I'd hold you tight, We'd kiss good-night, My Lili of the lamplight, My own Lili Marlene. Orders came for sailing somewhere over there, All confined to barracks was more than I could bear; I knew you were waiting in the street, I heard your feet, But could not meet, My Lili of the lamplight, My own Lili Marlene. Resting in a billet, just behind the line, Even tho'we're parted, your lips are close to mine. You wait where that lantern softly gleams. Your sweet face seems to haunt my dreams. My Lili of the lamplight, My own Lili Marlene.
Going slightly off thread, I remember we discussed evocative WW2 Italian songs here: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/general/16600-what-piece-music-sets-you-remembering.html and the unforgettable D-Day Dodgers, sung to the tune of Lili Marlene, here: http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/italy/3878-d-day-dodgers.html Ron

Hans Albers was very popular during and after the war and has an interesting biog to say the least - see here: Hans Albers - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Being from Hamburg his songs are often about seafaring and the nightlife in his home town. I seem to remember him being considered a little risque. It still hurts the first time ... YouTube - Hans Albers - Beim ersten mal tut´s noch weh
Sadly no, it's not, but I've loved the chaps selections since I first found it a couple of years ago! Glad that you enjoy it too and hopefully find more stuff of interest on there in the archive. He usually updates once a week, can you believe. Each of his selections are designed to fit neatly on to a CDR. He's turned me on to so much 'new' (to me) old music that I actually owe him bigtime best Fantastic blog. Is it yours? If so, expect your download server to be warming up over the next hour or two...
Well I'm one more that'll now be following it closely. A taste for Tom Waits and the odd dash of Gottstraffe England on the iPod while picking the kids up from school collides nicely with those two 'Albums'.
