With some odds and ends of paperwork to a Royal Engineers POW were these 2 images, not sure if they may be a factory he was part of a work gang at or if they were just random pickups, any idea where they are and what the facility is? the twin spires made me think Cologne but I'm sure other places had similar

    Thanks

Could be anywhere. But if I may just guess, Wiesbaden would be a possible location:
twin spires like the "Ringkirche", mountain range on the horizon, industrial area....
But this is really just a wild guess into the blue

On both photographs, there is a construction shown which has the appearance of a grain silo on a water course which would provide grain delivery by water.

The two stacks on the left of the first photograph could be associated with a power plant again on a water course which would be required for condenser cooling water etc. In front of the two stacks is what appears to be an unfinished building with an overhead crane.....could be just a heavy engineering yard.

As regards Cologne, it was completely flattened by the end of the war with the cathedral virtually untouched in its midst, close to the Rhine.

Thanks both, with it looking undamaged I'm assuming some kind of early/pre war postcards (I wish I knew where they were stored away, I only have the scans to hand but I'm sure there was no location clues on the back).

I was thinking silos, but wasn't sure if grain, sugar or even something more industrial and the water I wasn't sure if it was a river in its own right or a run off type of thing to provide power. I wasn't sure about the water as a supply route as there seems to be a weir so I don't think its a through passage for vessels

Its a shame the Cathedral/Church are so far off and at a narrow angle as it makes it hard to see the detail of the spires and also to see if there is a gap between the bases of the towers.

Hello AB64, please, which POW camp(s?) was your chap held in?

May help narrow the field for ItDan et al.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

This is the only other small clue I could discover. Looks like another small spire.
I'm afraid without any more details I can't help either

He was 1984318 Sapper Morton taken POW June 42 in Cyrenaica, he has a bible stamped Stalag VIIIC (Sagan) - Ancestry mentions VIIIA (Gorlitz) & 66

Gorlitz has a twin spire church but I can't see anything close to match

Gorlitz has a church of the twin spire variety that could be a match.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

    No further match with Görlitz:
From the alignment you would see pretty much from the direction of the former Stalag on the church there.
But there is only the Neisse and much botany in between, but no industrial area.
Also the mountain range in the background does not fit.
    That´s all I can contribute
    regards
    Olli
