Just came across this report in 5 RHA (Mercers Troop) War diaries.
    Date 24 May 1943
Location On coast 15 miles from Homs.
    Excerpt from Diaries
Parachutist had been dropped the evening before at Castel Benito and Benghazi.
A double guard was mounted at night and all ranks slept with their arms handy .

Instructions for Parachute Defence received from RHQ put into effect.

Was this just a scare? Were Germans thought capable of a Para Assault at this time?.

I believe that the last Fallschirmjäger drop in Africa was in December 1942 (but possibly may of been November), followed by a glider assault shortly afterwards but both were unsuccessful.
