Can anyone point out a source for step by step photos of Germans building bunkers using the wooden planks and concrete method?

    Thanks in advance. B)

Far from 'step by step' but George Forty's 'Fortress Europe' book has a few construction pictures (good plans of many types too, and is cheaply available on Abe).
This Jersey one's credited to the CIOS, they may be worth an ask?

Nigel Short's 'Tank turret Fortifications' has a lot on the construction, but no illustration of the process as far as I can see on a quick flick.

Eh? There is nothing un-peculiar about the concrete inside wooden formwork method, it's a very efficient and inexpensive method, what makes you surprised?

There is an Osprey, Fortresses series no. 3 dealing with U-Boot bases, you might like to see that.

If you are more interested in army fortifications, Osprey has at least these too in the same series:

    15 - Germany's West Wall - The Siegfried Line
    23 - German Field Fortifications 1939 - 1945
    37 - D-Day Fortifications in Normandy
45 - German Defences in Italy in World War II

Anyone ever read Gunter Grass? I think it was in "The Tin Drum" or it may have been "Dog Years" but it was mentioned once or twice about throwing a puppy into the concrete when they were building the fortresses as part of the Atlantic Wall, for good luck.

Has anyone ever heard of this before?
