I have a German bayonet and scabbard that my father brought back from North Africa. It has the owners name embossed in the back of the leather hanger, but its not possible to read it all. Is there a way of treating the leather to bring out the letters?

I Suspect that its the maker name rather than the owner. I have a simialr example with a manufacturers code in the same place.

    Yep, that's a maker's mark, somebody of Leipzig, 1938.
