A number of German aircraft were captured, one way or another, and were subsequently flown by the RAF for evaluation purposed, mainly by the Enemy Aircraft Flight. Is any one aware of any books that might have been written since WW2 on these aircraft and the activities they were involved in please? I know that there have been one or two magazine articles on this subject over the years, but I am trying to see if there are eny 'definitve' works on the subject. Many thanks in anticipation. Hi Steve, The topic was previously discussed here however there is an earlier thread that I have not been able to locate. Wolf in sheeps clothing.
All the pilots' reports on testing are still available, by pilots like Eric Brown etc. But I don't know where they're deposited. They relatively often appear in the classic "warbirds" press...
Came across this photo whilst looking for one for another thread. It depicts Messerschmitt Bf 109E serial AE479 According to the relavent Air Britain Serials book its history is as follows..... To AAEE /RAE / AFDU / No.1426 (Enemy Aircraft) Flight. to US 7 April 1942.
The late John Iverach , a Canadian navigator Ex-240 Squadron for a time was involved with flyiong covert ops off Europes occupied coastline - a captured HE-119 floatplane was used. See his book "Chronicles of a Nervous Navigator" , I came across this via his widow the late Mrs Peggy Iverach -who kindly gave me a number of photographs and information from her late husbands logbook relating to his service from Lough Erne.
