Back to the found baby gas mask. Attic find in the Fishwife's house of parental death. Very fair possibility the house it was originally issued to. (30s Semi in Enfield). Pretty bleedin' dark relic of the war really. Extremely brittle rubberised canvas looks a bugger to revive/re-shape. Asbestos filter too, I believe, so leaving that alone. Hope the government don't want it back. Suspect maybe best to wait until 'summer', rinse it all off with just water, re-shape and just let it fully air dry. Any suggestions or caveats from anyone with experience thereof welcomed. God knows how to 'display' it. Or even if the Fishwife will let me...

An auctioneer chap on TwatterX says IWM used to have a page on pouring PVA into asbestos mask filters to at least solidify contents. Anyone done this? Sounds rather logical to me, notwithstanding any future chemical damage to materials, though plain PVA is indeed pretty inert.
Yes, I do this with my gas mask filters. The glue also dries clear. Don't forget to do it on the inside too
