Hi Jane, my father was also in 56 Recce. I see that you have made quite a few postings in various sections and also on a number of members ‘Profile Posts’, bear in mind that the latter are not generally seen so will be missed by most members. Recce Mitch’s replied earlier So looks like A Squadron and he suggested that you start a new in ‘Recce’ with his name as the title, if you draw all your information together and post it there it may be a good idea. Also if you post a copy of the letter(s) people here may be able to decipher anything there. Unfortunately 'other ranks' are not often quoted in war diaries so there may be limited information in them but you will certainly get to know what these brave men were involved with day to day. Has he applied for his service records? Edit. ps do you know a Private F F De-Angeli, 7 Bn Parachute Regt?
thank you Tony. I will start a new thread for him as you suggest. yes F F De Angeli is my uncle, Frank's brother Frederico "Rico" De Angeli. A year older than my father , He was able to enlist earlier in the war as he was born in England. My father was born in Rome. Rico fought at Pegasus Bridge and was badly injured. He spent i think 7 months in hospital. Rico died about 4 years ago. my father is alive but very frail. He did not want to sign the request for his records. it is hard for him to sign (and typing is impossible). he is 93 and has serious medical issues.
